Local government elections are over. There will be ony two ways forward from here, no matter who was elected. Higher rates, or lower services. There is no magic bucket of money hidden by ‘corruption’ or ‘incompetence’. There is no magic source of new revenue, by running events or anything else. Just higher rates. Or lower services. No matter which town you live in, people spend far more on their personal travel, take away food, dining out and recreation/leisure activities, than they do on their rates. We’re not seeing the shift in societies, away from investment in the public good.
