American protest counterculture now thickly layered with social media-driven identity politics as well. The French? Not so much. Revolutionary cultures always remain that. Everything is always an uprising of outrage, shorn of all history. Tedious for those who don’t live in revolutionary cultures, who long ago figured out ways to live calm, relatively peaceful lives guided by knowledge and tradition i.e. history.
