Last night Insight discussed people who have been married multiple times, and asked people what they'd learned from their mistakes. What struck me is that every person in that room believed marriage and relationships are about taking person A and person B, and creating a person C, their marriage/relationship, that is some amalgam of A and B. I think relationships would be better and last a lot longer if we just let person A and person B, stay as person A and person B. That's what attracted them to each other. It's C that becomes a horrible state of co-dependency. Your spouse should be mysterious to you every day of your life, it's what attracted you to them in the first place.
