This is funny, in a tragic sort of way. A device that allows energy companies to shut down a person’s solar system completely, if the State has too much solar power going into the grid. Remember 10-20 years of politicians telling us all that what we need is more supply of electricty? More ‘baseload power’? Australia has so much free energy coming off peoples’ rooftops, it needs to implement these measures on some days to stop the grid falling over from too MUCH power. Queensland is introducing these now. Once $20 billion of new power lines is built to distribute this mountain of energy, it won’t be necessary - work that should have been done over the past decade. Another reason we got a battery here at home with the panels, our power still comes from the panels even if the connection to the grid is shut-off. No talk of NSW doing this though, at this stage, but anything is possible in the next 5-10 years.
