I want to challenge the idea that Australia is falling behind the rest of the world by being slow to vaccinate. Let's remember, there is effectively no Covid in Australia. We're not behind the rest of the world, we've been ahead of them for most of the past year. Vaccination is their way of catching up with us. When they get their shit together and eliminate Covid (we've already done that) using vaccines, then they'll have caught up with us. This matters because the quick vaccinators (who have killed nearly a million people between them) are trying to shift the global framework we discuss Covid with, away from public health work, towards 'opening up'. We can't let them do that, and we shouldn't do it here either. It will stop us stopping the pandemic.
