I share this not as medical advice, though it was medical advice to me, from senior Covid specialists and researchers. If you go to your GP with Covid, you’ll probably get told to take some Panadol, drink plenty of fluids and rest. Like it’s the flu. It’s not the flu, not even similar. Covid is far more dangerous. These are 3 of the drugs I’m using right now, to minimise Covid’s impact on my body. Metformin dramatically accelerates your body’s capacity to clear the virus. The low-dose aspirin has been shown to significantly decrease the likelihood you’ll develop Type 2 diabetes as a result of having Covid, as well as possibly protecting you from some of the terrible vascular effects Covid infection can cause. And the Nexium is for reflux, a common side-effect of Covid which irritates the vagus nerve, leading to widespread problems. Add to this regular mouthwash gargling with a mouthwash containing CPC (Colgate Plax is good), and nasal rinses with carrageenan nasal sprays. The idea behind most of these is to get the viral load down as early as possible, to restrict the capacity of the virus to set up home in your body and cause long-term damage. It’s the long-term damage people aren’t understanding about Covid. The list of that damage is now huge. There are no treatments for much of that list, you’ll be on your own.
