Viruses are literally like rock stars - moving beyond the 'germs' idea. They begin looking like a threat to society, and they really are in those early times, upsetting ways of life. Like early Elvis. Then society/our bodies adapt, and the provocation from the early infection changes society/the body. Viruses drive evolution.
