Have you ever been betrayed? The idea of betrayal is an interesting one. Like relationships are a contract. Proust said the essence of love is betrayal, not because people are bad, but because we love the idea of somebody, not them. Nothing else is possible. They’ll always betray that idea in some ways, because it’s our idea, not theirs.
