Musicians solved the riddle of peace centuries ago. We’re stuck between agreement and disagreement as options, or agreeing to disagree. Bach knew there was another way. Each voice in continuous counterpoint with every other, not one leader with others in harmony, but a harmony born of the constant play of each voice against other voices. That’s also the definition of good conversation. Nothing is harder, nothing more beautiful when you achieve it.
