I destroyed the motor on a few tape decks growing up, because I constantly rewound songs. Sometimes to work out a guitar part, but more often because most songs are about 90% padding. There will only be a few moments that are special, the way something is phrased for example. So I listen to those bits over and over. Much easier to do now, digitally.
