Jacob Collier is rightly considered to be a musical prodigy. The confusing thing about that though is, that he can’t seem to write music. Only perform it. I listened to his latest album, and all of the songs are terrible. If you take somebody like Mozart, another famous prodigy, what made him unique was his ability to compose masterpieces. To write astonishing melodies that sound like they’ve always been here. I honestly couldn‘t find a single song on this latest Collier album I’d have called even OK, and they’re light years away from a Mozart composition. Certainly not even in the same league as a Beatles song, for example.
