The new weight loss drugs are amazingly effective. Semaglutide (called wegovy here, also sometimes Ozempic or Rybelsus) is the most famous, and really does seem to do miraculous things. There’s some resistance from those who think fat people just eat the wrong things and don’t exercise. (The gym industry promotes those messages constantly.) Exercise is hopeless for weight loss, diet not a lot better. Obesity is likely a microbe thing, impacting insulin regulation. These drugs target the biochemistry of metabolism, and that key insulin mechanism. Expect to see them more widely used, obesity is a medical condition, not people being lazy or gluttonous.
