You can see how deeply libertarian populism has infected us. Crabb is no conservative. But even she's been so infected by populism that she describes the powerful use of public institutions to do what they were designed to do, as people being in love with 'being told what to do'. Staggering. In the past sensible societies delegated important tasks to their institutions, that's what institutions were for. Not because they loved being told what to do, but because they recognised they couldn't do everything themselves, and also didn't have the expertise to do it.
