I know people love my Daylight Saving rants. Here's another angle. The only argument anybody ever gives in favour of Daylight Saving is "I love it". Is an argument for beating your wife, that you love hitting women? Or is it an argument for not having vaccinations (steady Kato) that you hate needles? Or would it be an argument to ignore all speed limits because you love driving fast? This is what irks me most about Daylight Saving. It's a fundamental screwing around with peoples' circadian rhythms, for the selfish reason that many people 'love' having an extra hour of daylight in the evening. A superficial, personal preference that is used to justify changing our entire time systems twice a year, and which has powerful and negative impacts on our biology too. And it's also so selfish in that it completely ignores the fact that many in the population are morning people, and the "I love it" crowd are stealing that extra hour from the morning people - no daylight is 'saved', it's stolen from one end of the day and tacked on the other.
