Microsoft Excel is considered by some to be the most dangerous piece of software on the planet. Tens of billions of dollars of financial transactions worldwide are managed with Excel spreadsheets every year, as well as other critical business and public services. Many of those spreadsheets are created and maintained by only one or two people, or a handful at best, without much double-checking of the data or coding. When those people leave an organisation, often the spreadsheets continue to be used.
