Trump is only the tail-end of a trend going back decades. Democracy is failing everywhere. But what does that mean, the lurch to autocracy, or authoritarianism? Those are just bogey words from inside the filter of the nonsense ideas we have about democracy. About ‘the people’. The people ARE now running socieities, through social media. What is that producing? New kings. Trump is a (very bad) king. Anybody who studies history even for 10 minutes can see this is a return to the form of society humans have had for thousands of years.
