I’ve never had a fly or maggot infestation in any place that I’ve lived. I wonder if this is down to the more recent trend of no fly screens in new homes, because they come into conflict with trending style choices like folding bifolds and inside-outside living. Even worse, the increasing new problems with mosquito spread. These are basic public health issues humans solved generations ago. In developing countries the fly screen is a revolutionary salvation for millions of people. Here it’s now an idiot style choice. To not even know the fundamental role of mosquito control in our modern good health is fairly typical of how stupid public life now is. Mosquitoes can destroy a society, ask anywhere with malaria. Who remembers all the ‘tropical schools of medicine?’ Nobody, much. Adult life is the school playground again, imitative rivalry between trends. Most of which are brainless. Vaccines, fly screens, basic disease control, replaced with barista coffee, fine dining and bucket list travel.
