Why ideas matter more than actions, I think. If you think about it, all disagreement and violence begins with clashes of ideas. Those ideas can either be resolved by each person, or ignored and transformed into slogans between warring groups. Which means times of peace between groups are usually times of high anxiety for individuals, dealing with the clashing ideas themselves. And vice versa.
