Hardly anybody I know found this odd, even though it’s obvious. Societies don’t run on knowledge, they run on social conformity, driven by the desire for status. The principle most use to guide them is: ‘what is everybody else in my social group doing?’ They will almost never act or even think in a way that puts them at odds with their social group. It makes me laugh when people say AI doesn’t think like humans do. Humans don’t think, they imitate one another, to keep their position in a social group. We never leave high school.
