One for the ‘energy must be affordable and reliable’ folk. There have been blackouts in those months, didn’t even notice them. So there’s reliability. And Origin is paying us, we’re not paying them. So there’s affordable. I chuckle watching people pay thousands out of their own pockets every year, to defend slogans made out of hot air. The windows when done will slash another 30-40% off the energy we use in the house. It’s money for jam. A lot of the ‘cost of living’ is about how you live. Thousands to the energy retailer annually and thousands more every year to the Texans and Arabs for your petrol and diesel. Or your own energy system, great windows and a hybrid or EV. Choices. It cost us less to do than the average cost of renovating a kitchen and bathroom. If you’re also regularly eating $25 hamburgers and drinking $11 beers, and flying or cruising regularly to exotic locations to bother the locals, I’d say there’s more low hanging fruit there for picking. Frugality is actually about having more control over your own life. Our grandparents knew it.
