What I mean by the idea that we don't occupy space any more. We live 'in' space instead, we see the world as one big set of coordinates, a map. Look at this Greek village. Nothing there is built to allow easy passage from one part to another, every part of the space is fully occupied, and unique. Compare it with our modern car-driven suburbs, where everything is done to facilitate movement, to being somewhere else, and every house and block is almost interchangeable. Our obsession with travel is an extension of how we organise our own suburbs. We're a culture of no-place.
