Been a lot of talk of exponential curves lately. What doesn't get mentioned a lot is that this is also the reason our financial systems always crash. The interest we earn on our investments, even in basic bank accounts, grows exponentially. Obviously that's impossible to make work in reality, so our 'economy' crashes regularly. Ignorance of basic maths kills people in pandemics and destroys peoples' livelihoods, over and over again through all human history. Notice the Bible talks about both plagues and usury? History teaches us nothing.
