That road outside our front door connects us to every other spot on Earth. That sounds great for us. But what it also does is remove any reason for our quarter-acre of Earth, our home, to exist. Transport makes all parts of Earth equivalent. When you can always get what you need from somewhere else, there’s no reason your space has to exist. Movement is dislocation, always. Anything that sits on a road becomes road kill.
