Tesla's supervised self-driving has now completed over 12 billion miles (20 billion kilometres) without ONE fatality. Not one. Statistically, the same number of km driven by other vehicles would produce (on crash statistics) about 150 deaths. And nearly 9000 injuries, many serious and life-altering. And to be clear, it needs bugger-all supervision, the cars effectively drive themselves. This is a major milestone not just for vehicles, but in engineering and civilisation itself. AI in real-world life-and-death situations. An extraordinary achievement.
