Inequality in history has always been 'fixed' by plagues and wars. (Inequality played a big role in creating those plagues and wars at the same time.) Are we smart enough to avoid more wars and plagues (including climate change) by attacking inequality? Or will it need to be more wars and plagues doing the work? Are we too individually smart but collectively stupid?
