If you want to know why total dickheads keep winning elections around the world, these 2 fellas (Srnicek and Williams) know. They studied how the Left of politics, in its big anti-establishment push, moved to 'folk politics' - politics of the present moment, of the individual and local, of reaction and protest. Causes, and identity politics. By doing this, they surrendered the institutional arms of society (big media, government, corporate power) to the Right, who looked on in incredulous glee as the Left retreated to the politics of the personal. As a result only the Right can now get political action to scale, and they're wiping the floor with the Left. It's always institutions that get things to scale and give you lasting (not just present) change. To quote the fellas, "If we want to transform the political fabric today, we need to be placing issues of scale at the forefront of our strategic analysis."
