Probably the most important work on Covid I've seen in a long time. Because it goes right to the heart of the fantasy that we're 'living with' it. David Cutler is an economist at Harvard, who's estimated what Long Covid is costing in the US alone. It's already greater than the GFC, nearly $4 trillion. As he says, spending even tens or hundreds of billions to fight Covid will be unbeatable ROI, in pure economic terms. This is the real story of Covid. Not the 'just like a cold' infections many experience. The growing carnage to peoples' long-term health, which, again, is already costing more than the GFC did. Societies will not survive unless they start fighting Covid again.
