At school speech days there are often speeches about leadership. To me there’s only one test of leadership. Are you doing something that’s unpopular? Popular things will do themselves, and need no leadership. Popular things are nearly always stupid things. This includes a manager or CEO doing things that are unpopular only with staff, but popular with management. That’s not leadership, it’s team sports. Only things unpopular to *everybody* need leading, everything else will do itself. Good parents and teachers know this, you won’t survive a day being either of those things, using popularity.
