I think chronic busyness is a disease. In life and at work, peoples' lives are exhaustingly busy. My hunch is busyness became chronic because we use being busy as a way to avoid anxiety. NIKE tapped into that with the "Just Do It" slogan, as if the anxiety can be fixed by just doing more stuff. It can't, it makes it worse. For me busyness is caused by loss of control over our own lives. That's the cause, what makes us anxious, busyness is the symptom. The only way to get that control back is to not 'just do it' - it's to stop and question, what is the 'it'? At work or in your personal life, fight back against people who say to you that thinking is a waste of time, that you should just do it. Ask them what it is, and why people do it.
