Our home battery (Tesla Powerwall 2) has a warranty that says it’ll still provide 70% of its original storage after 10 years. So still perfectly usable well after 10 years has passed. But if I run the diagnostics today, after more than 3 years of use, it’s still showing zero degradation. Many Powerwall 2s apparently still have > 85-90% original capacity after 10 years. It’s a brilliant investment for a home, because it also creates a micro-grid, which insulates you from power outages. Solar panels alone don’t. And you can fill the battery with free solar, or also with super-cheap grid power at different times of the day (useful in winter). Nicola Tesla saw what societies could be like if they used electricty as their main source of energy for everything. An abundance of wonders and plenty, and he didn’t even live to see free sunshine converted into energy. Go electric in everything folks, you’ll never look back.
