Traffic ‘calming’. A big area of my own studies and research, how non-human things have agency. We like to say they don’t, but our societies wouldn’t function if that were true. We could ask drivers, for example, to drive calmly through our streets. We’ve tried that, it doesn’t work. So we introduce new technologies to calm the traffic. Those technologies have agency - they act in specific ways. They calm our driving. Once you see how agency is distributed across everything we use every day, the world looks entirely different. http://www.mikeontraffic.com/techniques-and-devices-for-slowing-down-traffic-traffic-calming-explained/
