Like everybody else, I’ve travelled. But I’ve never, not once, really enjoyed it. Getting home was always the highlight of any trip. Of course there are things you can do on a trip that are fun, even wonderful, but it doesn’t take too many days (for me, anyway) to feel like what I am - a stranger, in somebody else’s place. Ungrounded. I look at the headlines leading into Easter and they’re all about the ‘stress’ of travel, which I think most people feel but simply deny. They may even lie to themselves about it. As a culture we’re not grounded, and we don’t even understand what that means any more. Our place is just an address to us.
