I can’t engage in what’s called ‘politics’ because it’s really just social team sports overlaid upon the material realities of human life. It’s literally like a football Premier League added to what keeps societies running. All civilisation is the control of status rivalry. In a nutshell: 𝐇𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐛𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞. 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐲. 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠; 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭. The 20th century was the use of fossil fuel energy to delay the crisis from the collapse of social hierarchies. We call that ‘democracy’ but really it’s just a delay to the crisis from the collapse of social distance - hierarchy. Now in the 21st century information speed and overload is accelerating the return to the dominant forms of history. The exponential acceleration in imitative rivalry, leading to more ‘authoritarian’ rule (we call it that because we grew up in the fossil fuel democratic bubble). The return of social distance/hierarchy, the suppression of violence.
