If oil companies were confident in the future of petrol and diesel, they'd be flooding the world with cheap fuel right now, to encourage people to buy more petrol and diesel vehicles, to obstruct the take-up of EVs. But they're charging historically outrageous prices. They know the game is up. They're making as much money out of us as they can, while they invest in renewables behind the scenes.
