One of the aims of feminism was to put a brake on broad stereotyping of women. Women are people, people are individually different in all sorts of ways, etc. One of the things I find a bit disturbing in the debates around consent is that we seem to be back at the broad stereotyping, but just in the opposite direction. It’s described as about ‘male violence’. I would place a fairly large bet that no stereotype will give you the real answer to anything. And I have no time for those men’s rights groups either, they’re usually angry, unthinking fellas. I’m an advocate for thinking beyond the big angry binaries in arguments, that’s all.
