Good double-glazed (or triple-glazed) windows have Argon gas between the sheets of glass. The reason they do that is the high viscosity of Argon, relative to air (how ‘thick’ the gas is, how easy to stir or mix). Heat transfers through gases and liquids using convection currents, and the more viscous the gas or liquid is, the harder it is for these currents to form. If you’re having double or triple glazing installed, ask or look for Argon in the glass sheets.
