The difference adding a fan to your room can make to heating and cooling costs. Heating here as an example. A heater at floor level without a fan, in the image with all the red. Notice the heat accumulating at the top of the room, mostly where people sitting there won’t feel it. And significantly hot air too, up to 28 degrees, and the heater keeps churning it out because its thermostat says it’s still cool at ground level, where it is. Second image that is mostly green is with a ceiling fan on, in reverse (winter) mode. A nice even temperature throughout the whole room. Uses less than half of the energy as the room without a fan. I use a circulating (vortex) fan rather than a ceiling fan, to circulate air throughout the room. But a ceiling fan on reverse is fine.
