I think these signs are a model for where democracy needs to head. Away from the unsolvable problems of representative government, where everybody argues about what 'the people' want', when nobody actually knows or can ever know. What I think we need instead is more and more direct feedback loops in social processes, where people can see in real-time the impact of collective behaviour, so they can modulate their individual behaviour, also in real-time. That's what 'we' is I think, each of us modulating our views of the whole, each day.
