Tesla Powerwall sales in Australia are booming. The thing I love about the Amber wholesale company is that it allows people with batteries to sell their excess power into the grid at peak times, which is the only time existing coal-fired plants now make money (they lose money all day, they have to pay to put power into the grid because there’s so much solar). This accelerates the collapse of the coal plants, eating into the only opportunity they had left to break even. Great little earner for ordinary homeowners too. As an example, the current wholesale rate here in Lithgow over breakfast is 32c/kWh. Compare that with a standard feed-in tariff for solar of 5 or 7 cents. A battery owner can increase their earnings right now by 500-600%, and sometimes even more, in peak times.
