Virgin is just one example of something some have observed in this lockdown. How few businesses of any size had any reserves to buffer them through difficult times. Our business models are too often rape the business for every last dollar, for shareholders, or for private use for smaller businesses, and highly leverage with debt to keep the whole thing running. As a whole society no longer saves much, except through super, which is compromised though by being heavily financialised i.e. dependent upon the markets to realise its value. How many people and businesses came into this crisis with no savings, and heavily in debt? Astonishing how many can't survive a week in a lockdown, all going cap in hand to government now for help. Privatise the gains, socialise the losses, in plain view right now.
