Social media means very large numbers of people you know are actually living in the US right now, because they live on social media. Social media has replaced any idea of a local community. I would say the majority view in my workplace, based on conversations in recent days, is: Donald Trump is a tremendous businessman and great for America and the world. Pauline Hanson could continue his great work, here. Those who oppose Trump have 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' (TDS) - a term invented by a US politician that nobody in the office has even heard of. One older member of staff said "I can't stand Trump, and he's going to cause a recession here if the Iran thing keeps going." The reply from younger members of staff? "What's a recession?"
