A few times over recent years I’ve posted about the debacle the Snowy 2.0 would be. 4 Corners last night showed it in all its sad detail. (And it’s actually a $10 billion debacle, and growing.) The biggest mistake the LNP made here is to think you need huge amounts of storage for ‘when the sun doesn’t shine and wind doesn’t blow’. An empty slogan. When the sun doesn’t shine most people are in bed asleep, when we don’t need much electricity. (There’s still plenty of wind though.) Batteries are way faster and cheaper to build. The engineers say it in this latest story. This slogan has cost Australians tens of billions of dollars. We’ll have almost nothing to show for it.
