Nothing cuts through the bullshit of peoples' opinions faster than insurance (a big part of my current job). For example, you can believe climate change isn't a human-induced disaster, or that you can 'live with Covid'. Try getting insurance in either area right now. It'll either send you broke, or it won't be available at all. Premiums have gone up 24% in 4 years. The entire insurance industry may still collapse. All because we listen to bullshit.
