Finally got around to seeing this. This is the 4th film version of this story, going back nearly 100 years. I’m actually a bit surprised that the basic premise of the story isn’t more laughed at - that a woman’s success must come at the expense of her man. All 4 versions end with the loser husband topping himself, and the woman then making a big point of using her husband’s surname for the first time, as if to say “now I know my place”.
