I don't think there's any need for a kid to have a phone during class time, or even between classes. if they need to contact home they can always go and ask to use the phone for that, in a break. But I also think we're too quick to moralise about screens. Imagine if instead the kids were all reading unrelated books all the time, in class, between classes etc. Would this be a bad thing? Why not?
