Facebook is like human society in a coma. Zero thought, brain-dead. ‘Not the place’ to discuss things, many will tell you, as if that’s some terrible faux pas like farting at dinner, or a contagious disease. You can follow your friends here for years and not know a single thing about what they think, about anything. Only what they do every day, or at most what they feel. And if you get that insight into what they feel, there won’t be any into why they feel it. Just the feels. Alongside what I post to Facebook, I also post to Twitter. I get maybe 3 or 4 people here who regularly engage with anything in terms of thought. On Twitter I have thousands of active followers. Yes Twitter can be a sewer. But at least humans think there, they talk about things. Not just about themselves. Many applaud social media as a chance to ‘connect’ with the world. And what do they do with it? Talk about themselves.
