One of the ironies of modern life is that the Soviets pioneered what every business now thinks is important. Strategic planning, 5-year plans. The ruins of Soviet Russia are like the ruins of most modern business, just more visible. Most businesses don't last 5 years. I keep coming back to our understanding of time and space, because that is I think actually all culture. We can't create things that last across generations because we think eternity is just some projected version of right now. We think we're 'in' time and space, like they're containers, that *is* our culture.
