Nobody can get staff, it’s a genuine crisis. The thing is, we knew this was coming. It’s demographics. Our population was ageing, and is now old. There are nowhere near enough workers to support that older population, who will expect gold standard care. Meantime that same too-small pool of younger workers is being smashed with high student debts, completely unaffordable housing, wages below inflation, and now mass and repeated infection with a lethal virus. While the overwhelming majority of society’s wealth sits with the retired, who don’t need it, absolutely unprecedented in human history. Calling the young lazy is only going to make them angrier. And they have every right to be not just angry, but furious. It can’t end well. Aged care homes are closing already now, they can’t function. 800 Australians are retiring per DAY. It’s hard to see this ending any way but total social collapse.
