I often say we float upon the surface of the Earth. The floating happens in multiple ways. For example your bones float in your body, like the solid parts of this chair float in the wires. None of these solid parts touch each other, tension is what holds the structure up. Our usual model says the bones are like a frame that we hang everything else off. That's incorrect, in fact bones are just tissues amongst all of your other tissues. They even change shape according to the forces applied to them, they grow to respond to those forces. Our whole body is sculpted by gravity.
