Australian scientists have discovered that beneath the sea bed around the world, there may be up to half a million cubic KILOMETRES of fresh water. That’s about 100 times as much groundwater as we’ve extracted since 1900. The water entered the sea bed as rain when the sea levels were much lower in the last Ice Age. (All sea water was once fresh water too, I don’t remember learning that at school.)
